"Fish'n sticks - insights on the formation of biodiversity provided by cichlid fishes and Timema stick insects", Moritz Muschick, Universidad de Sheffiled, UK

Viernes 12 de abril de 2013 a las 12h, Salón de Actos del Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales.

Título: Fish'n sticks - insights on the formation of biodiversity provided by cichlid fishes and Timema stick insects.

Ponente: Moritz Muschick, Universidad de Sheffiled, UK

Abstract:

Adaptive radiations are thought to be the source of much of the world's biodiversity. Thus, research on the patterns and processes involved in morphological and genomic evolution in adaptive radiations is important for understanding the formation and maintenance of biodiversity. In this talk I will present work on morphological evolution of cichlid fishes from Lake Tanganyika in East Africa, as well as preliminary findings from research on the genomic basis of the adaptive radiation of Timema stick insects.
