Privacy Policy
The National Museum of Natural Science (MNCN-CSIC) (hereafter referred to as MNCN), a research institute and museum attached to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), puts in the knowledge of the users of the website www.mncn.csic.es/en (hereafter, the website) the current legislation on the protection of personal data, user privacy and the secrecy and security of personal data.
Automated collection and processing of the personal data collected through this website has the goal of the management of the service requested by the user, and the tracking of the petitions requested. The legal base of the processing is the consent of the data subject and its necessity for the performance of the public functions and missions of the MNCN. It is not possible to make a forecast of the time periods for erasure, which will depend on the case and the service requested.
In the Transparency (in Spanish) section of this website is the Register of Processing Activities (RAT) of the MNCN, which specifies, for each processing operation, the identity of the data controller, the legal basis, the purposes of the processing, the category of data, the deletion forecasts as well as the general description of the technical and organisational security measures.
The MNCN guarantees at all times full and complete compliance with the obligations laid down in Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5th, on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD), the General Data Protection Regulation (RGPD), Law 34/2002, of July 11st, on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (LSSI) and concordant legislation. In accordance with the same, the MNCN undertakes to comply with the obligation of secrecy with respect to personal data and the duty to treat them with confidentiality after carrying out the corresponding risk analyses, especially, in accordance with the First Additional Provision of the LOPDGDD, the corresponding security measures of those provided for in the National Security Scheme necessary to prevent their alteration, loss, unauthorised processing or access.
The user can exercise at any time the rights of access, rectification, cancellation, opposition, limitation or portability by writing to the MNCN address (C/José Gutierrez Abascal, 2. 28006 Madrid) or by sending an e-mail with a recognised digital signature to the following address gerencia.mncn@csic.es.

The MNCN processes contact data to inform users who have shown their interest and have given their consent or who are linked to the Museum's activities in the development of its public interest mission about its activities. Users may at any time express their opposition to receiving the aforementioned information by the same means by which they receive the communication, including electronically, by not ticking the corresponding boxes to be completed that will be placed for this purpose on the different forms, or by subsequent communication revoking consent by sending the notification as expressed in the section on exercising rights in this Privacy Policy, providing a copy of their National Identity Document or documentation proving their identity, or by using the link provided for this purpose in the communications they receive.

Browsing the website leaves as a trace the IP address assigned by your access provider, as well as the use of the MNCN services (subscriptions, commercial communications, shops, e-commerce and access to different information). This data will only be used for the purpose of compiling statistical data on the website.
The Museum manages its server environment appropriately, having a strictly compliant firewall infrastructure. It continually uses current technologies to ensure that the confidentiality and privacy of information is not compromised. The Site uses the TLS 1.2 protocol to enhance security. TLS 1.2 is the industry standard technology used to protect and maintain the security of message transmissions over the Internet. When accessing your accounts or sending information from secure Internet pages, encryption will encode your data in an unreadable format to prevent unauthorised users from accessing this type of data.
Any change made in the Privacy Policy and in the information and administration changes of this website will be reflected in a in a timely manner, and the Company may add to, modify or delete such privacy policy as it deems necessary.
