Lucas Mallada Geological Researches Fund (1943-1985)

The Lucas Mallada Geological Researches Center has a foundational and vital history similar to the Spanish Entomology Institute. It was created in April 10th, 1943, inside of the Santiago Ramón y Cajal Board of Trustees, under the CSIC. The Institute, founded by Maximino San Miguel de la Cámara (1887-1961), Petrography professor, was associate with the Science Faculty of the Central University and also he was installed in the Complutense University. His research work continued at the Instituto de Geología de Madrid, located at the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (MNCN). In 1985, both Institutes, Geology and Entomology, were reincorporated into the MNCN.

The Museum Archive preserves the documentation produced by the Lucas Mallada Geological Researches Center and the Madrid's Geological Institute in their activity, in 145 installation units.
