My research is about the developmental and evolutionary interactions between different organ systems and skeletal variation in recent and fossil humans. In my PhD-thesis I developed a systems model of craniofacial development and evolution combining the conceptual framework of developmental integration and 3D geometric morphometrics for the quantitative analysis of morphological variation. Within the Paleoanthropology Group I participate in the investigation of the El Sidrón Neandertals. I am running the 3D Morphometrics Lab for shape analysis in virtual morphology, which provides a methodological fundament of our group.
