RESEARCH = I am a quantitative ecologist with a broad interest in the curation and analysis of biodiversity data. In terms of study taxa, habitat, or ecological discipline, I am a generalist. 

  • --Academic training: BSc in Biology/Zoology (1986-1991/Spain), MPhil in marine ecology (1992-1996/England), PhD in population dynamics (2007-2012/Australia)
  • --Postdoc research:  ecophysiology (2013-2015/Spain), palaeoecology (2012-2013, 2018-2020/Australia, 2021-present/Spain), ecological monitoring (2021-2022/Spain) and fire ecology (2022-2023/Spain)
  • --Skills: compilation/curation of biological databases, R programming and multivariate ordination of biodiversity data
  • --Publications: 37 peer-reviewed scientific papers (20 as first author) with 2 new R packages and 4 species new to science
  • --Lecturing: 15 postgraduate courses on multivariate statistics (Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Spain)
  • --Outreach: I write popular science on biodiversity and global change since 2011 (> 100 blogs and printed articles)
