Contrato postdoctoral Juan de la Cierva (2022)

We look for candidates to apply for a two year postdoctoral contract Juan de la Cierva 2022 (https://www.aei.gob.es/convocatorias/buscador-convocatorias/ayudas-contratos-juan-cierva-2022/convocatoria)

Place: Aquatic Biogeochemistry Research Group of Salvador Sánchez-Carrillo at the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (MNCN-CSIC), Madrid.

Foreseen contract start: end of 2023/beginning of 2024.

Research topics

The research will focus on the study of the dynamics of greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4 and N2O) as production, oxidation, emission, and control factors in inland waters in both temperate (Mediterranean) and tropical water bodies (mostly neotropical). These studies are essential to understand how environmental degradation factors (hydrology, eutrophication, etc) affect the GHG dynamics in inland waters to promote the mitigation of GHG emissions through sound environmental management.

Profile of the candidate

  • PhD preferably in ecology, environmental chemistry, earth sciences, or environmental sciences.
  • A PhD after January 1st, 2021, outside the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (MNCN-CSIC).
  • Several first-author publications in top-ranking journals.
  • At least one research stay abroad (outside of Spain).
  • Good level of spoken and written English / good skills for research papers.
  • Interested in biogeochemistry and environmental sciences, with firm background in aquatic ecology.
